Welcome to Connie's Mexico Cafe Web site!

In 1953, Rafael Lopez and Conception
(Connie) Rocha came to the United States, married and started to fulfill
their American Dream. Rafael joined the United States Army. He went on
to fight in WWII and Korean War. Upon his arrival back to Wichita he
decided to stay and work at McConnell Air Force Base. Rafael and Connie
had a daughter, Carmen Lopez. Connie was a maid and fabulous cook, with
hard work and a collection of family recipes; they established Connie's
Mexico Cafe in 1963.
Connie's was initially known for it's
delicious flour tacos, but the Lopez family decided to expand the
menu to include burritos. At that point, Connie and Carmen began rolling
out by hand the "huge" flour burrito tortillas, and the rest
is history! "Burritos" are the specialty of the house, but the
other entrees are just as delicious! We have the distinction of being
the oldest, family owned Mexican Restaurant, thanks to our loyal
customers.
Today, Carmen and her five daughters continue the
family tradition of serving the "best" Mexican food in
Wichita, upholding the legacy of the big-hearted hospitality and
community patronage. Everyone knows that to eat the BEST Mexican food,
you visit the Mexican neighborhood (El Barrio), where authentic homemade
Mexican food originated. We are proud to be WICHITA'S OLDEST FAMILY
OWNED MEXICAN RESTAURANT: still specializing in our old fashioned food.
